Download Twitch Clips

Twitch clips are the primary way communities preserve their favorite moments from streams. A viewer sees something funny, incredible, or worth sharing, hits the clip button, and that moment gets packaged into a short shareable video. The problem is that Twitch's content preservation track record isn't great. Clips have disappeared during past infrastructure changes, entire channel archives have been wiped when streamers were banned, and Twitch has no "download your data" feature for clips you didn't create. If there's something you want to keep, saving it proactively is the only reliable option.

Twitch does have a download button in the clip editor interface, but it's buried a few clicks deep, unreliable on mobile, and only accessible to the clip's creator. If you're watching someone else's clip and want to save it to share on Twitter, compile into a highlights reel, or just keep for yourself, there's no official way to do that. The clip files themselves are standard MP4s stored on Twitch's CDN. Quality varies depending on what the stream was broadcasting at. High-production streams will give you 1080p60 clips, while smaller streams might only have 720p or 480p available. We always fetch the highest quality tier that exists for the clip.
